Why are some blacks in denial of being mixed?

It's a fact that a majority of Black Americans are mixed with something in their bloodline. Yet some claim to be 100% black? Many Black Americans were d back then by their slave masters, some mated with native americans. and even had thier African names taken away. Why is there denial abotu being mixed?
