Jews and Muslims, I always wanted to know. What goes on in a synagogue or a temple?

Do you discuss the Bible like in churches? Do you sing hymns? How long does services last (what are they called)? Do you have open discussions during these services? Does the speaker relate real world accounts and the Bible together?
